How it works

We have an innovative method to support per-user policies based on agent technology. The agent acts as a DNS proxy on the machine – the machine uses the agent as the DNS server and the agent then reponds to the DNS queries. Internal domains continue to resolve normally.

Internet activity is monitored whether the device is connected to the corporate network, or out on the road connecting via wifi or mobile data connection.

The agent uses local information to identify the user: if the machine is joined to an Active Directory domain, the agent will use the domain username. Otherwise, the local account is used. This means that Rawstream can work in any environment – Active Directory, LDAP, or none at all. Active Directory does not need to be synced to Rawstream, this data is collected automatically by the agent, thus reducing admin workload, and simplifying deployment.
